JORDAN CROSS with the action as it happened from Fratton Park.
Pompey make three changes from the side who fell to defeat against Spurs. Baros, Defoe and Campbell come in for Aubey, Kanu and Hughes.

Pompey: James, Johnson, Campbell, Distin, Hreidarsson, Utaka, Davis, Mendes, Kranjcar, Defoe, Baros. Subs: Ashdown, Lauren, Hughes, Mvuemba, Nugent

Wigan: Kirkland, Taylor, Kilbane, Heskey, Valencia, Boyce, Scharner, Bent, Skoko, Melchiot, Hagen. Subs: Pollitt, Sibierski, King, Aghahowa, Figueroa.

00: Pompey kick off.
04: Hreidarsson brings a fine save out of Kirkland with a low angled drive.
10: Jermain Defoe receives Johnson's raking pass and cuts inside Melchiot, but his shot is blocked.
11: Hagen pulls down Baros and Kranjcar whips a free-kick just wide.
13: Utaka gets a flick on Hreidarsson's throw, the ball drops to Defoe and he thunders a drive just over the top.
15: Unbelievable defending from Johnson denies Wigan the opener. Heskey rolls the ball into the path Valenica and his low drive beats James, but Johnson miraculously makes a last-ditch clearance which thunders off the crossbar and away to safety.
20: Skoko tries to work space and eventually finds Taylor who rolls his effort just wide from the edge of the box.
28: A lovely ball from Johnson deceives Kirkland but no one can get on the end of the cross.
GOAL! 32: Pompey have the lead with a quality piece of finishing from Defoe. Utaka's run and shot deflects to the striker who rolls the ball in from the most acute of angles. The striker is booked for removing his shirt in celebration.
33: Pompey nearly double the lead as Kranjcar lets fly from 30 yards but Kirkland saves superbly.
Half-time: Pompey 1 Wigan 0

46: Wigan restart the game.
48: Scharner goes into the book for a wild challenge on Mendes.
51: Some lovely flowing football ends with Baros through but he checks and hesitates before failing to get a decent contact on his shot.
61: Drama as Wigan win a penalty. Valencia goes to ground as Distin gets a slight touch on his boot, but James superbly keeps out Taylor's drive by diving full stretch to his right, and the Wigan man fires over the rebound.
66: Campbell just misses a fine Kranjcar cross.
66: Johnson shoots from the edge of the box, and Kirkland denies Utaka from the loose ball.
66: Sibierski replaces Taylor. Nugent replaces Baros.
70: Utaka goes down holding his hamstring. He is replaced by Hughes.
73: King replaces Hagen.
86: James makes another top drawer stop to deny Sibierski's volley.
87: Aghahowa replaces Melchiot.
GOAL! 90: Defoe seals it injury time bursting through and finishing with aplomb from Kranjcar's ball.
Full-time: Pompey 2 Wigan 0

Why does the Headline say 1-0 and the final says 2-0?,get your things straight and why did you post the play by play minute by minute after the match was finished?.

I'm sorry Michael But I don't believe for one moment that you would rather watch it on telly, most of us will be up with the gods but i don't care i will be there in that atmosphere. Believe me this will be a defining moment in pompey supporters lives, where were you on the 5th April when pompey got through to the fa cup final. I'm sure you would rather say at Wembley and not the pub, you can go to the pub anytime!!

Wembley is a 90,000 capacity stadium with every seat afforded unrestricted views within the optimum viewing distance of 90m from the centre spot as recommended by the governing design standards. Each seat is 500mm wide and has legroom of 800mm - more than any other new build stadium built in this country.

It is the most advanced stadium ever built, thus it's huge price tag. So anyone who thinks they will have a poor view is misguided. Some seats are closer to the pitch and some are higher up - but EVERY seat affords a fabulous view, a fabulous view enhanced by seeing Pompey players gracing the national stadiums turf.

Anyone who passes up an opportunity to watch Pompey at Wembley for watching it in a pub is NOT a Pompey fan.

Michael S. You are always on here commenting about a team you obviously don't actually go to watch or even SUPPORT.

If I decide to go which i might i'm sure there will be a few outside wembley willing to sell a seat or 2,or Ebay or facebook, just cause i don't have a ticket at this moment doesn't mean i'm out of luck or anyone else for that matter.

Great result yesterday, just a shame about the attendance. All week I have been reading about loyal pompey fans who were unable to get a ticket for the semi. Yesterday was the ideal opportunity for these fans to come & support the team they are purported to support where were they ? 33,000 plus next week 18,000 yesterday it's says its all really

Steve, The attendance was 1,900 down on max capacity. Of that shortfall around 1,000 were because Wigan did not use their allocation. From my position in the ground I could hardly see any empty seats. Many people are having to pay lot of money to go to Wembley, ticket plus travel, so I don't think there is a support problem. It is a question of priorities.

Today's Vote

How will Pompey fare against Cardiff in the FA Cup final?
Pompey are too good for them. We will win at a canter!
It will be tight, but Harry's boys will just nick it.
Cardiff will break Blues hearts and destroy the Cup dream!
It will go to the lottery of penalties and then it's anybody's guess!
