Pompey ended their Nigerian tour with a 2-1 defeat against Manchester United tonight.
But things could have been a lot worse for the Blues as locals rioted before the game.
Police beat back hundreds of people as they attemped to get into the game without tickets.
Players were unaffected by the scenes on a manic evening in Abuja.
On the pitch, goals from Chris Eagles and Carlos Tevez gave the Premier League champions victory.
Jermain Defoe grabbed a late consolation for the Blues, who now head to South Africa for a training camp.
Redknapp was not too pleased with some of his players, who he feels are not up to task of carrying Pompey through a heavily congested fixture list this season.
And he was given another problem as central defender Noe Pamarot picked up a thigh injury, while John Utaka and Niko Kranjcar limped off.

Yeh, we've just sold one of our best midfielders only to find our hoped-for target is now out-of-bounds, let's sell the only player we have who can play wide left midfield next, that'll send out a really positive message.

For someone saying he was excited about his team and said we can't do better, now says some of his players are not up to the task?,Harry sorry to say reverse physchology doesn't work, better players do,12 mil would definetely get SWP and Shorey, well done Jermaine you and Jamo have been the constant players now with Crouch all we need is 8 more quality constant players.
PLAY UP POMPEY.

Injury is always a danger in pre-season friendlies. This result means no more than our win against Liverpool did in Hong Kong a year ago. We still start our league programme with zero points, and it is the league that counts.
With his criticism of Kranjar, I can only assume that RVZ's knowledge of football is on a par with his spelling ability.

RVZ, do i really need to echo the sentiments of previous posters. yes, you obviously know little or nothing about football. Continuing concern around the team and where the helis Diarra, anyone know? SWP is out of the question now as Chelsea should keep him. Who else is there to go for who will do a job and be realistic to be able to get. Man i hate pre-season but love it too. im so confused.

I think we're just one or two quality players short to make something good happen this year. I wouldnt risk losing Kranjar knowing that we may not be able to get another good one in. Chelsea paid 20+ million for SWP, why they gonna let him go for 10m? never made sense to me and i didnt think we ever really had a chance. c'mon arry let's get a couple of good ones in soon!! pup pup!!

Looks like Pompey could be offering Celestine Babayaro a 1 year contract, this is a guy that couldn't even get into LA Galaxy!! also looks like Kanu is gonna sign for another year!! I watched the game last night and we were totally out played and Man u had half a reserve team out as well. We have got to replace Muntari because we looked rubbish without him and Diarra. Get some top quality replacements and fast Harry!!!

It was very miserable viewing! 1- I watched it on PFCtv with Man U commentators! 2- We looked poor, lacked imagination and penetration. One dimensional in attack, just playing a high ball which Vidic was cutting it with ease. That is the concern I had all the time of having Crouch. 3. The centre of defense was appalling, they going thru the middle as if no body was there. We desperately need enforcement to our ‘aging’ central defense. Last night Man U was without many of their first team stars, while we were near full strength. This is very, very worrying.

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
