Pompey off to Wembley after shock win

THE UNTHINKABLE has happened: Pompey have beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford to book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Sulley Muntari was the matchwinner with a penalty 12 minutes from time as Pompey turned in an incredible defensive performance.

Substitute Milan Baros was upended by United's substitute keeper Tomasz Kuszczak as he bore down on goal and the referee had no alternative, but to send the keeper off.

That left Rio Ferdinand facing the penalty and he could do little as Muntari tucked home with ease.

Pompey will admit that they rode their luck, but they capitalised on their chance when it came their way.

Although it was an even first half, Pompey breathed a sigh of relief when referee Martin Atkinson waved away claims for a United penalty when Cristiano Ronaldo tumbled in the area after going shoulder to shoulder with Sylvain Distin.

But United turned up the heat after the break and looked certain to score, until Distin somehow denied Michael Carrick on the line, before David James made a superb save to tip Patrice Evra's shot on to the post.

Pompey's travelling supporters were fully entitled to sing 'We're off to Wembley'.

Read it again - Pompey are in the FA Cup semi-finals and will play at Wembley next month.

What a brilliant result, we rode our luck, defended well and in the end held on for an historic victory.
Now we must consolidate our position in the league. Well done the lads. Play up Pompey

Thanks Harry and All the team for a fantastic result which I really hope has knocked the arrogance out of of Man.Unt. They have been convinced in all the media offerings that they were really on course for the trebble. Come on now the Gunners.

if ever a win was justified that was it, we played utd off the park, they didn't have a look-in!! o.k maybe they hit the post, had two cleared off the line, a penalty claim, the lions share of the game, 11 shots, down to 10 men and had there most influential defender in goal but appart from all that they never had a look in, oh and they are NOT going to Wembley but we are. lol. pup.

What an amazing game! Diarra is top class! And I'm sure Glen booked his place in the england squad against france, he was outstanding. Was Nani on the pitch?
Diop is much better in center midfield!
Play up pompey!!!
