Pompey pain at White Hart Lane

TWO goals in two minutes put paid to Pompey at Spurs.
Subs Darren Bent and Jamie O'Hara did the damage late on to put the skids on the Blues' European charge at White Hart Lane.

Harry Redknapp's men were decimated by injury for the clash with Londoners, with the Pompey boss forced to make six changes from the side who beat Aston Villa.

But Pompey looked good for a point for long periods of the game, although they came under a fair degree of pressure.

In fact the visitors could have nicked it when Kanu reached Glen Johnson's deep cross before Didier Zokora produced a saving clearance.

Juande Ramos' double substitution after 70 minutes paid of in spectacular style with both men getting the goals.

Pompey will be frustrated with the manner of the goals with Pascal Chimbonda not tracked in the build up to the first and Hermann Hreidarsson skinned for the second.

The result gives the Blues a mountain to climb to make Europe through the league.

Hreidarsson and Kranjcar yet again get turned over
and we loose thanks to a lack of players tracking
back and also arry doesnt change the system cant understand the mentallity of late subs should have changed at half time cant xspect kanu to play 90 mins
and b alone force he is to slow and with no support
is nonsence baros should have been on from the start as he used to b lone striker and will put him self about and utaka well no idear at all up the blues

we missed diarra without a doubt. we were always going to miss defoe. i think mendes and davis are good enough to replace muntari and diop but they havent played together for a long time.

i agree with rvz regarding the subs, harry should have given it ten mins in the second half then bring on baros. would have liked to see nugent when we were down as there was nothing to loose at that point.

We carried too many players today. Noticeably Utaka and Kanu. I would drop Utaka for weeks after an effortless display like that. On this occasion, HR etc were as at fault as our certain lazy players. The audacity of making changes when we go 2-0 down, when it was clear to us on the terrace that changes needed to be made far earlier, baffles me. A Spurs fan even said they thought we could have nicked it if we had just made the right changes at the right times. Very disappointing. If paying fans can see it, why can't the professionals on the bench?
Play up Pompey.

Thats who i feel sorry for the paying fans that went to Spurs!! Come on Harry they deserve better from you!!you played for the draw but like so many people have been saying, why oh why don't you try Nugent and you had the chance to play him with Baros, but no you kept with the £7m misfit Utaka and the old man Kanu!! Sorry Harry but you got this one wrong :(

Hear hear, come on Harry shuld of give nugent a go out with baros, utaka well say no more, Kranjcar can be a brilliant skillfull player but he has to be made aware of laziness creeping in. Shame we cant have defoe in cup. PLAY UP POMPEY

Ranscombe, you are still talking nonsense even when you were humiliated with the whole Harry to Newcastle saga!

At the most successful spell for the club in 50 years you and fellow idiots like you just seem intent on slagging of the club and players at every opportunity

One day Campbell, the next day Kanu, the next day Utaka, basically you are one hell of a saddo!

Harry had given the game away b4 it started. He is concentrating, by his own admission, on the FA cup. He looked disinterested during the game and didn't attempt to change things. Most of the players were only there because they had to be and thats the way they played.

What part of their game do Pompey need to improve ahead of the final?
They need to work on their defending - especially at set plays.
We need to work on our passing - we must keep, and use, the ball better.
It's the final third Harry should concentrate on. At the moment we don't look like scoring!
There's no need to worry - we'll be fine as we are.
