POMPEY are in the FA Cup final.
The Blues have made it to the final for the first time since 1939 with a nail-biting 1-0 win over West Brom.

Kanu was the hero against his former side as he grabbed the only goal of the game.

Championship side West Brom were the superior team in a first-half where Harry Redknapp's men never got going.

But the Nigerian rolled in the decisive goal nine minutes into the second half to send the travelling Blue Army into a frenzy.

Pompey improved after the break but West Brom had chances to equalise as Robert Koren thundered a shot against the bar.

It was tense and fraught stuff late on - but Redknapp's heroes held on a day never to be forgotten at Wembley.

Not the best first halve I`ve seen, but what a great result. Knew it would be close but couldn`t see WBA hurting us in the final third. Another solid performance from our defence. C`mon you Blues. Our name is on the cup!!

it's true what they say that football is a funny old game as pompey don't deserve to be in the final the way they played today. pompey's name is not on the cup, if they play like that in the final all they will be coming home with is the runners up medal.

Just got back from the game, Fair Play to all you fake cockneys down in pompey, but you have to admit you were mighty lucky. Outplayed for 90 mins, a goal which was clearly handball.
Anyway good luck in the final, and another day out in London for all your wannabe Cockneys

Having watched this dreary, unexciting match on telly I now know why family and friends stopped attending Fratton Park, years ago. The goal should have been disallowed for handball and WBA was robbed. As Hanson said, "Pompey play like strangers with no cohesion!" Where was the heart? Where was the committment? Winning's one thing, but to real soccer fans, earning it and giving the enthusiasts a good game is quite another. No wonder football's in decline.

AlbionFan, sure we did not play well today and you guys did pretty well, but I don't see how we are "outplayed for 90 minutes" when we have more possession of the ball (56%), more shots on goal (10 as supposed to your 6) and more shots on target according to the game stats. Sure you had a few good chances but it is up to your players to put them away. Don't think David James had that many saves to make in the end, so how can that classify as "outplaying" us?

And AdamsFan, there would always be some good games of football and some bad ones, unfortunately today's wasn't too good. When the FA Cup Final is at stake for the first time in 69 years, the players would feel the pressure on their shoulders and it would be difficult to "entertain" and I'm sure the first and foremost on their mind is to try to win. I think the players look nervous today and maybe trying a bit too hard, on a few occassions (e.g. running down blind alleys and end up losing the ball) which is understandable. If you wanted commitment and heart then you just have to go back one round for the Pompey match against Manchester United and you would have seen plenty of those there.

Albion fan - if you are still around - our accent has derived from London because of our close links with London in the 18th century, the close links with the Royal Navy an all that. Everywhere in the country except London think we sound like Cockneys, everyone in London think we sound like carrot crunchers. Sour grapes are so bitter don't you think?

As for the game I thought beforehand this should have made the best final, for an exciting game full of passion but to be honest the 2 teams cancelled each other out and it was always going to be decided on 1 goal. Well IT WAS OURS ..HA HA, or should I say BOING BOING!?

PLAY UP POMPEY!!

Today's Vote

How will Pompey fare against Cardiff in the FA Cup final?
Pompey are too good for them. We will win at a canter!
It will be tight, but Harry's boys will just nick it.
Cardiff will break Blues hearts and destroy the Cup dream!
It will go to the lottery of penalties and then it's anybody's guess!
