Commuters were caught in tailbacks on the A27 during rush hour after a car careered off the highway.
The car plunged down an embankment just after 8am yesterday on the A27 eastbound between Havant and Chichester.

Police and paramedics were at the scene within minutes.

A fire engine from Havant and another from Chichester were called out, but did not have to free the driver from the wreckage.

Firefighters made the scene safe by removing any debris.

A spokesman for Sussex police said: 'The car came off down an embankment about five miles before Chichester.

'The car was recovered at 9.45am.'

The driver of the car was not hurt, but was taken by ambulance to St Richard's Hospital, Chichester, for a check-up.
