A motorcyclist has died after his bike crashed into barriers on a sliproad to the M275.
The accident caused traffic chaos across the city on Saturday evening as police closed the motorway in both directions for more than four hours.

A member of the public called for an ambulance at about 7.35pm and reported that a motorcyclist had crashed into barriers on the sliproad to the M275 southbound.

The man, on a White Yahama motorbike, was travelling from the traffic light junction at Port Solent - formerly the Johnson & Johnson roundabout - near to the Marriot Hotel.

He lost control on a left-hand bend and careered into barriers, sustaining life-threatening injuries.

An ambulance, first responder and doctor were at the scene within minutes and worked on the man in the road as he had gone into cardiac arrest.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has not yet been named by police as he is still being identified and his next of kin have to be informed.

Any witnesses should contact Sergeant Andrew Lynch at Cosham Roads Policing Unit, quoting Operation Exbourne, on 0845 045 45 45.
