New road safety measures are to be introduced on a busy Chichester road.
Warnings about Brandy Hole Lane – a key access to the Brandy Hole Copse nature reserve and the highly popular Centurion Way pedestrian and cycle route – were issued at a meeting of West Sussex County Council's south Chichester local committee.

And there were predictions that problems would get worse, with large numbers of new homes proposed in the area.

The committee approved a £23,000 plan for a new stretch of footway between the entrance to the nature reserve and an existing footway at the lane's eastern end.

The work is subject to settling a legal issue over ownership of some of the land involved.

The committee also backed a proposal by Cllr Peter Jones to press for a 20mph speed limit and traffic calming measures.
