LIFTS at the Portsmouth and Southsea train station have been closed for refurbishment.
The lifts to access platforms one and two have been closed for eight weeks to enable Network Rail to redevelop the lifts for passengers.

Posters and notices have been displayed around the station to make passengers aware of the changes.

All guards for services stopping at Portsmouth and Southsea will be informed about the lifts so they can tell passengers of the problem before they get off the train.

Disabled passengers have been advised to take the train to Portsmouth Harbour where they will be escorted back to the station in a taxi, which will be paid for by South West Trains.

A spokeswoman for South West Trains, said: 'We have given people as much notice as possible. It's an improvement because passengers will be getting modern lifts.'
