While I was unfortunately working on perhaps the biggest event during January, I did luckily catch some of the bands performing at Icebreaker Festival at The Loft. I think all the team behind it did a fantastic job and here's hoping for an even bigger year next year.

Kicking things off tonight for the first weekend in February is the launch night of newly-assembled Portsmouth drum and bass record label Context Audio.

Formed in December 2015, Context Audio are looking to start off at The Old Barn, Milton from 9pm until 1.30am with a two room set-up.

Room 1 will feature DJ Zork and Nooch going back-to-back alongside Soul:Motion, Co:Lateral and Composite (the first artist on the label’s roster) and Room 2 will be hosted by Rollin’ with DJ Havok, Luke Loud and Millie Cooper all pushing the vibes.

Tickets on the door cost £3 before 10pm and £5 after. Go to facebook.comHowever for those who love their cheese, It’s A Sin will be taking over The Wedgewood Rooms, Albert Road, tonight, offering free entry from 11pm until 2.30am. For those unaware, DJs Lemon and Spikey Mark will be playing guilty pop pleasures from the ’80s and ’90s. Pete Scathe joins them in hosting his Thunderdome Rock Night simultaneously in The Edge of the Wedge. Go to facebook.comWhile tonight at The Old Barn is all about drum and bass, tomorrow Snug will be presenting an evening of bumping tech house and techno with their headline duo Slam. The pair are preparing to embark on their 25th year running record label Soma and are touching down for an intimate show from 9pm until 3am.

Supporting will be Cliquee and Chris Vaux in Room 1 with Stu Bryan, Jamie Wilinson, Andrew Robertson and The Kemp Brothers in Room 2. Advance tickets cost £13 plus booking fee, £15 on the door.
