Rizzle Kicks at Portsmouth Guildhall

Rizzle Kicks

Rizzle Kicks

If you’re going to see Rizzle Kicks, don’t expect to walk away from the night having discovered the meaning of life. But you will have had a good old sing along.

The Brighton boys made good as they took to the stage at Portsmouth Guildhall in a flash of onesies and cartoon candy hip hop.

Jordan ‘Rizzle’ Stephens and Harley ‘Sylvester’ Alexander-Sule have stormed the charts in the past two years with their debut album, Stereo Typical, and their boundless energy and wordplay on stage is reminiscent of Will Smith in his Fresh Prince days.

Supported by Little Nikki and Mikill Pane, who warmed up the crowd with vigour, they crashed through all their popular hits to their young audience.

Jordan’s clever rapping and Harley’s gentle singing voice harmonize brilliantly together, and they play up to their playful image with bouts of the Harry Potter theme tune and James Bond (complete with Daniel Craig mask and the microphone as a gun).

Along with playing a brand new track, That’s Classic, they rounded off the evening with one of their biggest hits, Down With The Trumpets, which caused the teenage crowd to head straight into a bouncing frenzy. And rightly so.
