Book early for some hot gigs

The gig scene may have got off to a slow start for 2011, with very few bands and artists gracing the stages of Portsmouth venues, but there's plenty to get excited about looking forward.

Olly Murs' gig here in four months' time has already sold out and there are plenty of shows in the meantime that you can expect to sell pretty fast. So here's our guide to what to get in quick for and get tickets now.

The ex-Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things frontman released his first self-titled solo album last autumn.

And, after releasing the single So Long My Lover last month and completing a sold-out UK tour, he announced more dates for this year.

He's heading back out on the road with his five-piece band next month and comes to the Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea on Thursday, February 24.

Adele

Adele's new single, Rolling In The Deep, is one of the best things being played on the radio at the moment and you can expect the dark bluesy gospel disco tune to chart highly when it's released next Sunday.

Listen out for the brilliant Jamie XX remix too.

The album, 21 (a follow-up to her debut, 19), is due out on Monday, January 24, and Adele has announced a European tour for spring which comes to the UK and Ireland in April, including a date at Southampton Guildhall on Wednesday, April 20.

The rapper soared up the charts, turning from an underground buzz artist to a bona fide pop phenomenon, in less than six months. He hits the road next month, coming to Southampton Guildhall on Saturday, February 26.
