Budding Billy Elliots are being invited to take part in a weekend of dance at The Point
Using funds raised from a gala performance of Billy Elliot – The Musical, The Royal Academy of Dance is bringing its Boys Only! programme to the Eastleigh arts centre.
Boys Only! takes place on March 8 and 9 and aims to promote the knowledge and practice of dance to boys and young men aged eight to 18.
The programme will run alongside HeadStart, The Point’s showcase for young male dancers aged from eight to 21, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Spaces are still available on Boys Only! and participants will be able to take part in a variety of different dance classes including ballet, contemporary dance and street dance workshops with experienced male professionals.
Boys attending the programme will also get the chance to open at the HeadStart showcase with a curtainraiser performance of their ballet and contemporary work.
At the end of the weekend-long course, boys will also receive a certificate and award presentation to recognise their participation over the two days.
Places on the course cost £51. To book, download an application form from the RAD website rad.org.uk/learn-to-dance or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The 10th anniversary HeadStart performance takes place on Sunday March 9 at 7.30pm.
This year the young dancers will have been working with Avant Garde Dance and ZoieLogic Dance Theatre for the showcase.
Tickets: £9, concessions £7. Call The Point’s box office on (023) 8065 2333 or go online at thepointeastleigh.co.uk.
