Normally, in February, we see nothing but the build-up to all the big Valentine’s Day themed nights in the town.
Don’t worry lovers, I’m certain that will still be the case, but two monumental things need to happen first which will, undoubtedly bring a much need freshness to the Portsmouth club scene.
We’ve all seen Babylon grow over the past few years into a very popular haunt for clubbers all over the south. It’s retro and alternative nights are famous for creating a great atmosphere and drawing good crowds. This week Babylon gets a huge makeover as they present a brand new club on King Henry 1st Street, Popworld.
This official opening is tonight with a celebratory VIP party including guest appearances from Jo O’Meara and Bradley McIntosh, members of chart-topping band, S Club. They’ll be performing their 1990s hits live on stage including Don’t Stop Moving and Bring it all Back.
The new nightclub is the third Popworld to open and follows the successful launch of Popworld in Southampton in September.
The night kicks off at 8pm. You can get on the guest list by visiting firstname.lastname@example.org or calling them on (023) 9283 0150.
If that wasn’t enough, Tiger Tiger introduces two new rooms after a major investment. Welcome Jewel and Kanaloa.
After months of planning and weeks of work, they’re welcoming two of London’s finest bars that are set invigorate and redefine nightlife in the city of Portsmouth in 2013. This year marks the start of a brand new era for the club as two of the venue’s five bars have undergone a complete transformation with a six-figure investment that will guarantee to bring a renewed drama and glamour to the venue.
The space formerly known as Tiger Bar will have the chic, decadent and luxurious décor of Jewel Bar. Inspired by the glamorous heyday of the Moulin Rouge, Jewel has been in the heart of London’s Piccadilly Circus for over ten years and has been reviewed as ‘one of the most beautiful bars in the West End’.
Meanwhile, The Lounge has taken a completely new identity as Kanaloa, a traditionally tropical, tiki-style themed bar featuring a colour-changing ceiling.
The opening weekend will feature Kim Wyatt and JLS star Marvin Humes.
