Clubbers to help ‘give a kid a quid’ appeal

Have your say

There is plenty going on this weekend but I’ve handpicked some nights that, I think, outline the diversity of club nights in Portsmouth.

Popworld are back with the superhero theme tonight, and for the rest of the weekend, with their big weekender.

They need your help. Put on your Spandex and grab your capes as they wage war against the weekend.

As always, they will be bringing you the best tunes from the 1990s all the way up to the current chart hits.

The night will be host to many superhero-themed games to raise money for the very noble Help for Heroes charity. Also, there are prizes and giveaways all weekend for the best- dressed.

Entry prices are going to vary, so my advice is to get there early. The night runs until 3am.

The longest-running urban night on the walk returns tomorrow.

Club 8 holds another episode of Funk’d & Blush’d. The club will be expertly dissected by two of the best DJs on the walk.

Bar 8 will feature Mike Money playing the best in commercial, indie, dance, pop, rock and all the best anthems, while Club 8 will be controlled by the popular J-Fresh from Fire Radio.

He’ll have his fingers all over a mix of r ’n’ b, hip hop, grime, funk, dancehall and everything urban.

If it’s your birthday or you fancy becoming a VIP for the night, contact stuart@club-8.co.uk.

Entry is £2 before 10.30pm, £4 before midnight and £6 after.

Finally, a night that my own mum told me she went to back in the 1960s is back tomorrow.

Southsea Skate Park presents their brilliant Roller Disco.

In my opinion, there is no better way to start your Saturday night – just make sure you don’t break your ankle.

Music comes from Durty Sound System. No 12-inch, no CDs, no iPods – just the finest collection of vinyl 45s from a VW bus. Tunes you grew up with, wish you had and will always love.

Entry is £5, skates are £2.50 and the night runs from 7pm until 10pm.
