This week in Portsmouth you will be spoilt for choice as the list of events is endless. As always there are a few that caught my eye.

Kicking off your weekend tonight is this month’s Swanky Sessions at Drift Bar in Palmerston Road. From 10pm the Swanky team take over upstairs providing you with the best house and techno, focusing on showcasing local talent.

This month’s toe-tapping line-up consists of DJ duo Klink, head honcho Danni Mac, the regular face of Olly Jeffries, and introducing DJ Scott T and duo Soul Status.

Entry is £3 before 11pm and £5 after.

If this isn’t your thing then head down to Popworld from 9pm until 3am.

This week they bring you Scott from 5ive. Fresh from the ITV2 shoe The Big Reunion he comes to town ready to rock you.

To finish off your Friday’s listing there is the option of the Dispatch Recordings launch party for the brand new Transit Two LP at The Registry, in association with the Phaze2 Sound System.

After a summer break, Dispatch Recordings release party aims to bring the drum and bass scene back to life. Starting at 9pm the night will feature sets from some of the label’s biggest artists including Survival, Silent Witness and Amoss.

Don’t forget to check out room two for local duo Klink.

Advance tickets are £7, available from phase-2.co.uk.

Tomorrow night there is only one place to be and that is The Astoria. From 10pm Amplified Sessions let loose and unleash the beats with yet another headliner, this time in the shape of DJs Leftwing and Kody from Lost Records and the Noir Music label.

The energetic duo tread a fine line between house and garage spinning sets made up of their own edits and originals which makes them stand out from the crowd. Their release of the Bump and Flex EP was one of the most successful releases of 2012, finishing the year on a high with a remix for Alive.

Supporting them are Amplified residents DJ Sam Bylett and Ash Foster.

Advance tickets are £6 available from Resident Advisor.
