At last, the weekend club nights are back on form. This week sees two nights of double-headers for a weekend worth talking about plus a little something extra on Sunday.
Tonight sees the return of two of my favourite nights. Head down to the Wedge for the ultimate way to get your alternative weekend rocking and rolling, It’s Pete Scathe’s Thunderdome. Music ranges from classic rock through to heavy metal, punk, and alternative anthems.
As ever, this night is held in the Edge of the Wedge and runs from 10pm until 2am. Entry is completely free.
Alternatively, you can head over to the main room for a slightly more eclectic affair with It’s a Sin.
They’ll be playing a mix of pre-naughties party anthems and classic tunes, from 1950s rock ‘n’ roll to ’90s indie, Britpop and dance via all that was good or shockingly bad from ’80s pop and rock. If you still haven’t tried out It’s a Sin, let this one be your first and prepare for some guilty pleasures.
Join DJs Spikey Mark and Lemon from 10pm. Entry is free.
If urban is your thing, you might want to head down to Envy tomorrow night for Vibe.
DJ Swingsta will be playing the best in r ‘n’ b, UK funky, garage, bashment and hip hop. Also, tomorrow’s session will be hosting Pitbull’s album launch party, so look out for lots of CD and merchandise giveaways.
This night is in conjunction with Liquid’s stock Saturday night party, Sensation. Club anthems, chart, house and r ‘n’ b are on the cards with DJ Jazz Black.
Entry is £6.50 for both rooms but head over to liquidclubs.com/portsmouth for 20 per cent discount.
Lastly, Something a bit less taxing for Sunday as The Registry give you 12 hours of Roasts, Records and The Registry Quiz.
Enjoy great home-made food and all the latest hits while you prepare your brains for the quiz at 8pm.
Entry is free and the quiz costs £1 to enter. Prizes include drinks, gig tickets and hard cash.
