Get the summer parties started

THIS WEEK IN 1988: Nightclubs refuse acid house parties

Have your say

July is here and it’s probably one of my favourite months of the year, as it’s time to enjoy the summer with all that our clubs can offer.

Now, you may think this is going to be the season for students and, to a point, you might be correct. But Tiger Tiger have something to say about that first.

Tonight they present Kick Start Fridays. If everywhere is packed with students and you want a more mature night out, then this is definitely for you. You can enjoy a range of canapés as well as a complimentary glass of bubbly from 5pm until 7pm.

You’ll get a great variety of music too, with three of Portsmouth’s best DJs and seven rooms of music and entertainment. If that’s not enough, you can also get 50 per cent off your food bill. If you want to party ‘adult-style’, this is the night for you.

Pick up a flyer and get free entry before 10.30pm. Otherwise, it’s £3 before 10pm, £5 before 11pm and £6 thereafter.

Also, tonight, the relatively new alternative, punk and indie night, The Wolf Club is back at the Wedgewood Rooms. This from the people that bought you OMG! At The Registry so, if you miss that classic night, get down to this one.

DJs Rob Troubadour and Kelly Strangedeath will take you though everything from the Deftones to Lady Gaga as well as great music from breaking bands and old school classics.

In their own words they like to ‘party hard’ so, if that’s what you like to do too, get down there.

Doors open at 9pm and entry is free.

Lastly, something great to finish your clubbing week on Thursday night. Liquid and Envy present a brand new r ‘n’ b and hip hop night entitled Solo Goes Sexy.

To mark the inaugural night, they will have the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist street dance crew Abyss performing live as well as the local act 2nd 2 Nun dancing to warm up the crowd.

Their resident DJ, Deejay JC, will be mixing things up with some r ‘n’ b, hip hop and dancehall styles. This awesome DJ has been playing at venues across the south since 2003 and is a resident on Afro Disiac Radio on Friday Mornings.

Entry costs £5.50 all night long or £8.50 VIP to ensure you get seats all night and a great view of the show.
