Pete Scathe has been a fixture on the Portsmouth music scene for as long as he can remember – in his own words ‘since approximately 1902’.
Pete plays nights at the Atrium, Edge of the Wedge, EQ and Scandals and even fits in a couple of nights in Bournemouth each week.
Pete said: ‘It’s jolly nice to have won Best DJ.
‘It’s also a surprise because I won it two years ago so I really wasn’t expecting to win it this time as well.
‘I thought my time was going to be several years in the future or something.
‘Obviously it’s really nice and thanks to those people that voted for me because I’m guessing that that was a large part of it.
‘So thanks to all those people that did the right thing on the website or wherever it was they voted.’
He added: ‘It would be nice to win again in the future.
‘I don’t want to monopolise it but it’s always nice to have that recognition.
‘My hopes for 2014 are pretty much to keep on going.
‘At the moment I’m doing four or five nights a week which is probably about the most that you can properly do and also keep on top of the other stuff that you have to do like promoting nights, designing flyers – which I hate – doing response sheets –which I hate even more – and all the background work that nobody even knows about that comes with being a DJ.’
