Something for the week-nights

THIS WEEK IN 1988: Nightclubs refuse acid house parties

Have your say

One more week into the, not so warm, summer and it seems that Portsmouth’s clubs are ditching the weekends at the moment in favour of week nights.

Saturday and Sunday’s seem to be filled with only stock nights, while all the special events are reserved for in the week.

Let’s be honest this has not been the best start to a summer-long clubbing extravaganza, especially compared to last year.

I just hope that everything improves for those of you awaiting exam results in the not so distant future.

This week’s first night promises to be a good one, as Cor present Rough Around the Edge at the Edge of the Wedge tonight.

The infamous Mirrorball Disco Lounge is host to those COR DJs getting their underground disco groove on. This night is sure to leave your head nodding in appreciation.

Tonight’s instalment features groovy tunes from DJs Pablo Contraband and Disco Deviant who are sure to deliver the best disco, funky house and pumping grooves until 2am.

This night is completely free so if you are a disco freak, get down there.

If Tuesday night is your night to get down and party then Pure seems to be the place to be.

Voted as one of the top 10 club nights in the UK by Zoo, Dirty Disco returns for more student shenanigans.

Top Eskimo 11 DJ, Owen B will be playing all the hottest and newest tracks around plus requests from you all night long. Post on the Pure Facebook wall and get free entry and guest list before 10.30pm.

Otherwise, entry is just £3 before 11pm and £4 after.

Finally, Tiger Tiger are teaming up with Rough Hill again on Thursday for Mystic Disco. More student madness ensues as Tiger opens all of its bars and rooms for you to party the night away with more variety than Heinz.

You can also book your very own booth in the Groovy Wonderland room. They are £30 for up to eight people and you will get free admission until 10pm, a reserved decorated area, a celebration cupcake each and two jugs of Vodka Monster.

Entry costs £4 and the night runs from 10pm until 3am.
