Three generations – from servant in 1544 through to 1649 as alderman and master of a London guild and owning an extensive number of properties. Using church records, court documents, taxation returns and land registry data it has been possible to track this family’s ups and downs through the turbulent years of monarchy and commonwealth, plagues and fire.
