The Wedgewood Rooms’s annual new music competition, Showcase, continues next week, with heat five on Wednesday and heat six on Thursday.

Competing alongside Stefikie, Once Too Much and Waves on Wednesday is pop-punk four-piece Everything But Arms.

They released their debut album, Thunder and Lightning, last year, having recorded it at Backbeat Records in Southsea.

‘It’s a culmination of all the songs we wrote over the last four years,’ says frontman Will Powell.

‘We had a killer, not filler, attitude.

‘We wrote a lot of songs and it took a long time to choose which to include,’ adds Will, 22.

The band, from North End, Havant and Clanfield, have plans to record their next EP in September and release it with a tour early in 2014.

On Thursday, heat six features Leftines, Dutch Criminal Record, The Hazy Eyed, Smiles and Do The Tuesday.

Tickets for each heat cost £4 from (023) 9286 3911, wedgewood-rooms.co.uk or on the door from 8pm.
