The award-winning Brodowski String Quartet will return to the Spring Arts Centre at Havant on Monday (October 14, 7.30pm) – but with a replacement leader and a changed programme.
Oscar Perks takes David Brodowski’s place as first violin and only Haydn’s Op 54 No 2 survives from the original repertoire. It will now be followed by Schubert’s Quartettsatz, which is a single, powerful, anguished movement from an uncompleted work, and Mendelssohn’s Op 13 Quartet in A minor.
Music lecturer Terry Barfoot will provide brief introductions to the music, with examples performed by the musicians.
Winners of the Royal Overseas League Competition, the Brodowskis have performed at major London venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Barbican and Wigmore Hall, and at the Edinburgh Festival.
Tickets: £16 from The Spring, Havant, on (023) 9247 2700 or go to thespring.co.uk.
