Chase And Status at Portsmouth Guildhall

Smooth sailing for Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at Portsmouth Guildhall

Have your say

Prodigy protégées Chase And Status are no strangers to the south coast, having played at Southampton Guildhall earlier this year.

Attendees of that particular concert will not be shocked by the layout or the setlist of tonight’s gig but for those who missed out on both, here’s a little rundown.

If you’re familiar with No More Idols, the duo’s sophomore album, then you’ll know that the record is guest vocal heavy, with the soaring voices of Plan B, Maverick Sabre, Labrinth and more. So, how do the drum ‘n’ bass twosome replicate the No More Idols experience in a live setting?

Behind the two DJ props and an intricate drum frame hangs a large screen showing exclusive videos of the vocals by the artists in question so it’s almost as if Plan B, who sings on the crowd favourites End Credits and Pieces, is in the venue with you.

During Fire In Your Eyes, I actually had to take a step back in order to soak in the flailing arms, beads of sweat, pints of beer and flashing lights being thrown in all directions.

In all, it’d be hard to argue against Chase And Status being this generation’s Prodigy.
