With the summer weather seeming to be peaking at the moment, there have been plenty of music events for our local scene. Whether it’s boat parties, garden parties or using Southsea’s fantastic bandstand, promoters are welcoming the hot weather and summer vibes with open arms and it’s great to see our music scene thrive.

Tonight Portsmouth-based techno record label, Gnosis Records, are returning to The Old Barn, Milton, for another evening of thumping techno beats. The line-up will see label boss Operator joined by DJs Chris Colburn, Sejon and DJ LP.

Expect things to get hot and heavy as they showcase their latest releases. Doors open from 9pm until 1.30am with free entry before 10pm, £5 after. Go to facebook.com
Tonight will also see Portsmouth cover band The Bootlegs play at The Wedgewood Rooms, Albert Road, with promises of a fine selection of jukebox jingles with cool beats. Doors open from 8pm until 11pm with tickets £5. This also gives access to Wolf Cub Club in the Edge of The Wedge from 11.15pm until 2am. DJ Pete Scathe will be offering a platter of stomping alternative anthems straight after The Bootlegs finish. Grab tickets from wedgewood-rooms.co.uk
Tomorrow will see this year’s reunion for PunkFunk Records at The Old Barn as a joint birthday bash for Chris Vaux and Gavin Duruvalla (two out of three members of The PunchFunk Soundsystem). If you haven’t managed to catch a PunchFunk reunion yet, be sure to expect plenty of bumping tech house and techno vibes from 6pm until 1.30am.

Chris, Gavin and Simon Blann will be playing alongside guest DJ Cliquee (Techno For An Answer) with more to be announced!
