This weekend we have Camp Bestival happening in Dorset as the warm-up for Bestival in September, which always builds a lot of excitement in Portsmouth.

However, while festivals are always fantastic, the expensive prices do put a lot of people off so the focus this week is on events on a budget!

Tonight we have It’s A Sin causing its usually cheesy pop madness at The Wedgewood Rooms, Albert Road from 10.30pm-2.30am. It’s arguably one of Portsmouth’s biggest events that has free entry.

Expect two rooms of pop anthems all the way from the 1920s to modern chart hits. More at facebook.com/events/1567927833513478/Tomorrow from 1pm, the Southsea Bandstand looks be a busy one as Filthy Pig Promotions present Mr Clean, who have been described as the UK’s most exciting and energetic tribute to The Jam. Supporting will be indie punk band The Novatones, Funkstar and DJ Ethan Owen. The event will be linked up with local charity Care After Combat.

The bandstand will be free, with Mr Clean performing from 3pm-4pm, more details at facebook.com/events/525155144330872/If you want to continue the party from The Bandstand, the after party will be hosted at Drift Bar, Palmerston Road from 5pm. The line-up will see acts including Sophie Darling, The Machete, Allegory, Lewis Smith, Paul Dillon, Mike, The Novatones and headline ska band Offbeat Offensive performing (10.15pm-11.15pm). Early cocktails and a BBQ from 5pm with DJs Liz Cornick and Matt Mallon, then into The Old Barn with Filtered Soul resident DJs alongside Groove Assassin.
