I paid a visit to the Wedgewood Rooms last Saturday to see the last Funktifino night held there. They were throwing tune after tune and I had one of the craziest nights out I’ve had in a long time. Keep an eye out for when these guys pop up again.

This week there are a lot of events going on – from new, to regular, to charity.

Tonight from 9pm until 1am Bar 56 and Al Burrito will host Shmack, a night of good tunes and great food with popular DJs Mike Jackson and Johnny Shbaz. When these two get together you are in for a lot of laughs and some hectic behaviour that will make you remember your time with them.

Mike told me to expect an evening of funk, soul, blues, rock and anything else that may tickle their musical pickle.

Entry is free all night.

Just down the road is another free event that is worth checking out. As It’s A Sin take over the Wedge, you can join DJ Pete Scathe in the Edge as he is back with Thunderdome.

This is everybody’s favourite Friday rock, metal and alternative night. Don’t forget that Pete was voted the number one DJ in Portsmouth in the Guide Awards so get involved from 10pm until 2am.

Next up tomorrow, we have a charity event that has had a hard time being finalised but the organisers refused to give up and the day has finally come.

From 5pm until 1am you can join Andy’s Army Party in the Park at Leigh Park Community Centre. Not your standard clubbing location but all for a good cause. This event is to raise awareness and funds to enable Andy Prowting to get the medical treatment he needs for his recently- diagnosed cancer.

House Knights and Bassline Livesound have joined forces to create Andy’s Army and bring you the ultimate party.

With a line-up including DJs Banksy, Voodoo Junky and Jamie Mabe playing anything from Acid to Funk to EDM, a ridiculously loud sound system and light and laser show with DD the Robot this is not to be missed.

Entry is £5 until 9.30pm and £10 after.
