I spent last Saturday at Discreet and what a party that was. I am still recovering now.

From start to finish, there was all kinds of madness – from amazing headline sets by DJs Rossko and Justin Robertson, to the multiple outfit changes of the Kitchen Disco boys. Find out more online at discreet.events
This weekend welcomes the relaunch of The Old Barn in Milton. After a change of management and a much-needed facelift over the last few weeks, its doors are open again.

A massive ‘well done’ to all the team for getting The Old Barn ready and completely mixing things up while at the same time keeping to its roots.

Tonight from 9pm until 1.30am there will be a live performance from Lindsey Spinzee, topped off by sets from DJs Handsome Dave Rocker and Chris Vaux.

Then tomorrow, there will be sets from DJs Darren ‘Merle’ Thompson, JustSayYes and 24hr DJ.

That is a solid lineup for their first weekend. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this place.

The Easter Bank holiday weekend has crept up on us quickly – I can’t believe it’s nearly April, I swear it was only Christmas last week.

Kick-starting the bank holiday, on Thursday night the Concrete Music guys are taking over The Astoria from 10pm until 2am.

As a special treat they have invited headline act Alexis Raphael from Hot Creations to play for you. Support will come from DJ Jack Figgins.

Tickets are £5 available from Resident Advisor.

Also next Thursday, the Beats & Swing team treat The Old Barn to a little piece of what they are all about, as they bring back one of my favorite acts to one of Portsmouth’s oldest music venues from 7.30pm.

Come along to see the unique talent that is Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer.

Joining him will be popular DJs The Gentleman Philosipha, Los Cojones, Sam Hatty and Mike Jackson. Get your tickets now for just £7 from gogo.me/beats-and-swing-Mr-b
