I spent last Friday evening enjoying drum and bass antics courtesy of promoters OHM and their headline artist, Break – OHM pulled out all the stops in putting on a fantastic event.

To kick things off this week, tonight at Drift Bar, Palmerston Road, tech-house duo Pura Luz will be hosting a launch party for their debut album Luz Kontrol. After the producer/singer duo had great success with their live performance at Victorious Festival back in August, they decided to release a full album together.

Doors open 10pm and everyone who attends will receive a free copy of their album. Tickets cost £5 from next.fatsoma.com
Also tonight is UP DnB’s Residents’ Christmas Party at The Loft, Albert Road. Doors open from 8pm until 1am and promises to be a night of the hardest drum and bass rhythms with DJs Inertia, Goblin, Messent, Telex, Eskay, ISER, Tim Clay, Trystal Meth and Twinide on the bill. Entrance is £2, or free for members of the UP DnB society. Sign up at upsu.net
Lastly to finish the weekend, tomorrow evening at The Old Barn, Milton, Chris Vaux and Simon Blann will be putting on a Christmas party for their record label PunchFunk. With the house/techno label sadly coming to an end after 10 years, the two are hosting a much-demanded reunion. The doors will be open from 9pm until 3am. Pay what you want on the door with all proceeds going to the charity Motiv8 and The Matt Berry Fund.

The event is likely to fill up so get in early. Expect a night of punchy House and Techno from the labels back catalogue as well as current tracks all for a good cause. For more information search for PunchFunk on facebook.com
