Club Scene with Sam Cherry

Last weekend I attended Surface DnB at The Old Barn which saw a great line up of well-respected DJs (both local and from across the UK) and plenty of good vibes!

While it is sad to see The Old Barn become the next music venue in Portsmouth to close, it’s good to see promoters still pushing the venue. Tonight at The Old Barn, The Subsequent Sound System will be taking over with promises of an array of bass music from dubstep, hip-hop, garage and drum and bass. On the decks will be DJs Lupo, Elsta, Zork, Inertia, Intec, Eskay and Lute. Best of all this evening will be free, doors open from 8pm until 1.30am. More details at facebook.com

Tomorrow night on the house music scene, fresh promoters Wise will be taking over Shack Bar, Albert Road, for plenty of bumping vibes. The evening will be another free event and will see Wise resident DJ Fabio Bacanhim mixing alongside James Barnes (Cliquee) from 9pm until 1am. Expect driving house and techno beats. Next Thursday, Trash Arts will be hosting headline hip-hop artist Bronze Nazerith at The Edge of The Wedge, Albert Road. Known for being a Wu Tang Clan producer after being picked up by Rza in 2002, Bronze Nazerith will definitely be one for hip-hop enthusiasts as he continues to wear his Wu Tang influence proudly on his sleeve. Support artists will be Naan Breddaz, Hang Dai and Nu Rhetoric. Expect stellar beats and rhymes! Doors open from 8pm until 11pm and advance tickets cost £10 from wegottickets.com

On Monday, alternative club night Delight at The Astoria, Guildhall Walk, will be rocking a Rocky Horror-themed party. There will be plenty of head-banging anthems accompanied by plenty of eyebrow raising crossdressing! Tickets cost £4 with special burlesque performances and plenty of prizes to give away. Doors open 10pm until 2am with tickets from fatsoma.com
