FORMER Blur frontman Damon Albarn has announced he will be playing a show at the Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea

The Britpop icon is releasing his first solo album, Everyday Robots on Monday.

He has fronted Blur on and off for more than 20 years, but has also been behind the hugely successful Gorillaz, who played at the Wedgewood Rooms on a similarly low-key date in 2010.

The eclectic musician’s other projects have included Mali Music, The Good, the Bad and the Queen, and Rocket Juice and the Moon. And he has also composed a pair of operas - Monkey, and Dr Dee.

But this is the first time he has performed under his own name.

He is scheduled to play at numerous festivals around the globe over the summer, including Latitude Festival in Suffolk in July.

Tickets for the Wedgewood Rooms gig on May 31 are available from 9am on Friday from wedgewood-rooms.co.uk or by calling (023) 9268 3911. They cost £19.50 each and are limited to two per household.
