Thirteen years on from his first No1 hit, 7 Days, Craig David will return to his home city tonight.

He comes to the Southampton Guildhall as one of four UK dates on his huge world tour.

It all started back in 1999, when he featured on fellow Southampton act Artful Dodger’s single Re-Rewind.

He was one of the first to cross over from a UK Garage pioneer to a mainstream multi-million seller and has won Ivor Novello awards and achieved global album sales of more than 13 million.

Years before Tinchy, Chipmunk or N-Dubz arrived on Radio 1, Craig brought everything from UK garage, to stripped back acoustics and electro-edged R’n’B to the UK charts.

Now he’s one of the UK music scene’s most successful male solo exports.

He’s had 13 UK Top 10 singles, including Fill Me In, 7 Days, Walking Away, What’s Your Flava, Hot Stuff (Let’s Dance), and the duet with Sting, Rise And Fall.

Along with three Ivor Novellos, he’s won four MOBOs, two MTV EMA awards and he’s had multiple Brit and Grammy award nominations.

And, despite being out of the limelight of late, his popularity has far from faded.

Last year, MTV viewers voted Craig’s Born To Do It the second Greatest Album Ever in MTV history, just behind Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

Born To Do it was also voted one of BBC Radio 2’s Greatest Albums Of All Time last month.

It proves there will be huge demand for his new album, set for release later this year.

Every tour ticket buyer will receive a link to download a free exclusive new track.

Tickets to the Southampton show are £32 to £40.50 from gigsandtours.com or (023) 8806 3 2601.
