BIG INTERVIEW The Darkness: ‘For anyone to give a damn when we’re five albums in is great’

Have your say

AS THE swelling crowd waited in anticipation for DJ Fresh to take to the stage, it was clear what they wanted to hear – the hits.

And the dubstep pioneer did not disappoint when he opened his hour-long set with a medley of his most highly acclaimed songs, including the old favourite Golddust.

It sent the crowd into a frenzy of dancing, which proved to be the theme of the night as the bass thumped through the sound system and the tunes kept coming.

Behind a raised keyboard and in front of a web of triangles made from LED lights (an image taken from his current album, Nextlevelism), Fresh was backed by a full band.

We heard Louder, Hot Right Now, The Power, and The Feeling, as well as a number of covers with a uniquely Fresh twist.

The crowd threw triangle-shaped hand gestures at Fresh in appreciation of his new album.
