Portsmouth-based acoustic rock band Bemis will be hosting their last-ever night at The Cellars at Eastney tomorrow.
Frontman Gareth Howells, who was also a finalist in the recent All About the Song competition, says: ‘In many ways the Cellars has been the centre of Bemis activity in Portsmouth – we held a Bemis and Friends night twice a year where we organised and hosted the night, we took part in a lot of the tribute nights there and we had loads of fantastic support opportunities that we will always be grateful for.
‘The Cellars witnessed the band change over the nine years of Bemis, but was always really supportive and encouraging. We supported acts like Midge Ure, Sally Barker, Bob Dylan Project, Chumbawamba and loads more. There are so many ways that The Cellars has been important to me and it leaves a huge hole in the Portsmouth music scene.’
