Drenge takes its name from the Danish word for boys but the members are British-born and bred, and hail from Derbyshire.
Made up of Eoin Loveless (guitar and vocals) and his younger brother Rory (drums) the band rose to prominence in an unsual way – directly following the resignation of Labour MP Tom Watson from the shadow cabinet in July 2013.
He wrote in his resignation letter on his blog ‘be that great Labour leader that you can be, but try to have a real life too. And if you want to see an awesome band, I recommend Drenge’.
Drenge have toured the UK, and appeared at Glastonbury Festival and Latitude Festival in the past. This year, the group performed at the Reading and Leeds Festival, with a self-titled album released on August 19 on Infectious Records.
Drenge will be performing at The Fat Fox, Southsea, at 10.20pm this morning.
