Eloise said: ‘It feels amazing to have won. I didn’t expect to win at all because I thought the other acts were really good.

‘My family and boyfriend were here tonight and their support has been amazing. I’m just happy to have won.’

The closely fought heat featured great performances from Matt Tarrant and Ash Watson, while Velvet Sky’s unique combination of acoustic guitar and xylophone earned them second place and a slot at the Southsea Show in August.

Eloise joins Dani Uziel, Billy Gregory, Sarah Corcoran and Jack New in the final at the Wedgewood Rooms on Sunday, June 22.

The last heat of All About the Song takes place on Tuesday at 7.30pm at The Cellars, Eastney – entry £2.
