Maz O’Connor is ‘one of the most promising voices to emerge onto the folk scene in recent years’, according to Charles Gale, one of the organisers at Forest Folk, North Boarhunt, where she plays tonight.

The finalist for the Radio 2 Young Folk Award 2009, began her singing career at Folkworks summer schools. She spent a year in the youth ensemble run by Kathryn Tickell’s Folkestra North. And she’s performed with young folk award winners Last Orders at festivals across the UK.

Her debut album, Upon a Stranger Shore, arranges traditional and original tracks in subtle and exciting ways.

Support tonight comes from Matt Jones from The Lock In.

Tickets cost £12 from (023) 9226 4288.
