Fans of Americana are in for a treat if they get down to the Cellars in Eastney on Sunday.

The venue has scored the only UK show where cult singer-songwriter Chuck Prophet will be performing alongside his wife Stephanie Finch.

Chuck first attained fame in the 1980s as frontman for the Paisley Underground band Green on Red.

But since going solo in the early ’90s he has notched up a dozen albums under his own name. And his sought after style has seen him work with a wide range of acts, including Kelley Stoltz, Aimee Mann, Warren Zevon, Jonathan Richman, Lucinda Williams and Cake.

He has also written with or for Alejandro Escovedo, Solomon Burke, Heart, and Kim Carnes, among many more.

Finch is part of her husband’s backing band, The Mission Express, but has also struck out on her own, releasing solo debut Cry Tomorrow.

Expect an evening of off-beat anecdotes and finely crafted songs from the pair.

Tickets cost £13 and doors open at 7.30pm.
