A host of British bands have been added to the line-up for the Isle of Wight Festival 2012.

Festival favourites Feeder will open the Main Stage on Friday, while recently reformed glam-rockers The Darkness will headline the festival’s Big Top on Sunday night.

Other big-name acts revealed today include rappers Professor Green and Wretch 32, who have both scored number one singles this year. They are joined on the bill by fellow Londoner Loick Essien, whose debut album, ‘Identity’, is set to be released in March 2012.

Clement Marfo and the Frontline complete today’s additions to the line-up.

Today’s announcement comes after organisers yesterday claimed a UK festival exclusive by revealing American legends Pearl Jam as Saturday night headliners.

The Seattle band complete 2012’s ‘American Trilogy’ of headliners, with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Bruce Springsteen headlining Friday and Sunday respectively.

Completing the line-up so far are Biffy Clyro, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Example, Elbow, Noah and the Whale, The Vaccines, Madness, and The Christians.

Next year’s Isle of Wight Festival takes place over the traditional Glastonbury weekend of June 22-24. The Somerset festival is having a year off due to a shortage of police officers, who will be needed at the Olympics in London.
