KT Tunstall

KT Tunstall’s wanderlust has taken her from London to LA, but she’s back for a summer of shows, including Wickham and Victorious.

A new era begins for the Havant Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, December 6 – with a new regular conductor and a switch to Oaklands School, Waterlooville.

After successful one-off concerts in its more sympathetic acoustics, the HSO makes Oaklands in Stakes Hill Road its home for all three concerts in the 2014-15 season.

The switch was endorsed by Jonathan Butcher, who takes over as conductor after a successful trial concert there last season.

His popular programme of romantic Russian music consists of Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances, Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, with Viv McLean as piano soloist, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s colourful symphonic suite, Scheherazade. Both opening and closing works have a strong oriental flavour.

Tickets cost £18 to £6 (concessions and season tickets available) from (01489) 877497 or by sending a text message to 07855 972057. Further information at havantorchestras.hampshire.org.uk.
