Last weekend, part-Portsmouth pop-rock quartet Ivyrise hit the road for a UK tour.

It will culminate in a sell-out show at London’s Islington Academy next Saturday. And the penultimate tour date will be at the Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea on Thursday.

The band are promoting their soaring hook-laden debut single Line Up The Stars, due for release on March 14 on My Major Company – an innovative new record label that started in October.

Ivyrise took just four days to raise the necessary £100,000 required to become My Major Company’s first fully-funded UK act.

The band had previously self-funded two releases that went into the BBC Radio 1 Independent chart at numbers six and two and they won a stadium support slot with Bon Jovi at Twickenham.

Portsmouth-born frontman Ben Falinski says: ‘In 2011, being in the music business is no easy ride.

‘We believe it’s all about the fans. Our decision to sign with MMC UK was for that very reason.

‘In a world where people are becoming disillusioned with having music forced upon them, having the financial and emotional support of music fans before our album is released gives some power back to the people who matter the most.’

Following the tour, Ivyrise head to Texas to record their debut album, due for release this summer, with Jason Perry (Kids In Glass Houses, McFly).

Tickets to see Ivyrise at the Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea on Thursday from 8pm cost £6.50 from (023) 9286 3911 or wedgewood-roooms.co.uk.

We’ve got a pair of tickets for the show to give away to six lucky readers.
