Genre-breaking trio Liars aren’t your typical paint-by-numbers band – and their show at the Wedgewood Rooms certainly proved that.

Liars spliced driven electro sounds with thunderous guitar jams, encapsulating their impeccable musicianship.

The threesome swapped between instruments with ease, none more so than energetic drummer Julian Gross, who was explosive.

Frontman Angus Andrew, with an impenetrable veil of black hair covering his face for most of the show, cut an imposing figure as he commanded the stage, complete with his unique dance moves. Not even the odd stray drumstick could falter their performance – but they certainly deserved a bigger crowd.

Set highlights were the opener Brats, Plaster Casts of Everything and encore Broken Witch.

Support from Bobby Krlic’s The Haxan Cloak’s sinister synth sounds gave you the feeling of being trapped in a David Lynch film.
