It’s a case of good news/bad news at The Cellars in Eastney this week.

Unfortunately top bluesman Lucky Peterson has had to cancel his show there on Wednesday due to illness.

But Mud Morganfield has been able to step into the breach at short notice.

As the eldest son of blues legend Muddy Waters, Mud has been keeping the legacy alive, but also producing his own new albums.

And he has just won two awards from Blues Blast magazine: Traditional Blues CD Of The Year for his album Son Of The Seventh Son and the Sean Costello Rising Star Award.

Mud last performed at The Cellars in April, where he worked the crowd up into a sweat with a fine set of his own material and covers of his dad’s classics.

Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets cost £15 advance, £17 on the door. Go to thecellars.co.uk or call (023) 9282 6249.
