Have your say

Distinctively attired in trucker cap, charity shop suit and beard, Scroobius Pip is a leading light and unmistakable face in the UK’s spoken word scene.

Having given-up his role of punk-bass-player for a marginally more stable career in poetry, Pip has been proffering his everyman polemics since the mid-2000s.

These days he’s often found in the company of dan le sac, with who he released the 2007 masterpiece Thou Shalt Always Kill. But Pip released a new solo album in September.

For Distraction Pieces, the lyricist collaborated with artists from the worlds of rock and leftfield hip hop.

Featured artists include Renholder (aka Danny Lohner from NIN and A Perfect Circle), Richard Russell (XL), Steve Mason, Sage Francis, Zane Lowe, B Dolan and Aupheus.

Work on the new dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip album is set to begin in the new year. But you can catch him solo now.

Scroobius Pip comes to the Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea on Thursday with support from B Dolan.

Tickets cost £9 from (023) 9286 3911, wedgewood-rooms.co.uk or on the door from 8pm.
