Portsmouth Philharmonia players following their concert to raise funds for Hayling Island Community Centre

STUART REED: Players pull out all the stops at charity concert

Have your say

This weekend, the summer season of shows at the Southsea Bandstand sadly comes to an end.

But if everything goes to plan, it should finish on Sunday on a high with The Silver Beatles, The Fliks and the Tiddly Kinks.

The almost Fab Four have carved themselves a fine reputation for their recreation of the mop-tops and their songs.

Cynthia Lennon no less, has been quoted as describing them as ‘lookalike, soundalike and even thinkalike – it’s uncanny!’

The music will start by the seafront at 1pm and run until about 5pm, but contact the Visitor Information Centre on (023) 9282 6722 by 11am to confirm that the event is going ahead.

In the event of rain, it may be moved to a different venue.
