Have your say

The lights went down, the audience clapped and the lady to my right said: ‘Excellent, now what have we got next?’. I couldn’t have put it better myself.

The Fareham Musical Society took the crowd through a whistle stop tour of famous show tunes of Musicals from A-Z. From Anything Goes to Spamalot, Wicked to Avenue Q, there really was something for everyone.

The company shone in the group numbers such as Puttin’ On The Ritz from Top Hat and Oliver’s Consider Yourself, led brilliantly by Elliot Swann.

There were also some stand-out performances such as Hannah Edwins as Tracy Turnblad from Hairspray. Director Graeme Clements was hilarious performing Telly from Matilda.

However, the highlight of the evening was Gareth Billington who performed Sweet Transvestite from The Rocky Horror Picture Show to perfection. The audience gasped as the strapping young man took to the stage donning a pretty black dress with dainty heels to match and caked in make-up.

Within a matter of moments it was evident this was the number of the night.

It was impossible to leave the theatre without singing a number from one of the 26 musicals.

The crowd were thoroughly entertained.
