Brightonians Skinny Milk mine a similarly dark world to The Black Keys or The White Stripes, but with just bass and drums, their style and dynamic is unusual to say the least.
With two EPs under their skinny belts, the two-piece rock the shack in fine style. Bassist/singer Johnny Hart delivers an enormodome-filling, reverb-drenched psych-rock sound worthy of five musicians to a ferocious level.
Meanwhile, drummer Tim Cox compliments with a sharp and powerful attack on his kit. Fast and furious songs like Creatures have the small audience moving deeper into the cavernous darkness.
Stripped to the waist and visually stunning beneath spiralling lights, and with not an ounce of fat on their roar, Skinny Milk are surely destined for wowing a bigger crowd. I’ll drink to that.
