Romance will be in the air when Peter Rhodes gives a piano recital at the Spring Arts Centre, Havant, on Monday (7.30pm).

The former head of performing arts at South Downs College will play Schubert’s final sonata, in B-flat (D960), groups of Nocturnes and Mazurkas by Chopin, and Schumann’s Papillons (Butterflies), inspired by a novel by Jean Paul.

The items will be introduced by the recital’s promoter, Terry Barfoot, who runs musical appreciation classes at the Spring and is publications consultant to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
