Classical choral music for lovers is promised by Guide Award finalists the Renaissance Choir in a concert at St Faith’s Church, Lee-on-the-Solent, tomorrow (7.30pm).

The programme – two days after Valentine’s Day – represents a sensuous blend of modern and ancient music on the theme of love. It principally featuring cult American composer Eric Whitacre in settings such as A Boy And A Girl and With A Lily In Your Hand, and a mass by 16th century Flemish-born composer Roland de Lassus, whose works have been sung by cathedral choirs down the centuries.

Other items to be sung by the Emsworth-based choir, conducted by Peter Gambie, include John Rutter’s Of A Rose and Holst’s My Sweetheart’s Like A Venus.
