Bristol-based gloom-pop solo artist She Makes War has embarked on her biggest UK headline tour to date, including a date at The Cellars at Eastney on Monday.

Following a successful tour of Europe and the UK last autumn and a high profile support slot with folk rockers The Levellers, Laura Kidd and her band will be premiering songs from her third album Direction Of Travel, the first single from which will be released in June.

A pacifist force of nature with a punk spirit and a serious work ethic, She Makes War’s mission is a peaceful but provocative one – to create breathtakingly honest music and share her art (and her heart) with the world.

Her songs have been championed by the likes of BBC6 music DJs Lauren Laverne, Marc Riley and Tom Robinson as well as fellow musician Amanda Palmer.

Her inimitable brand of melancholy, grungey rock with a modern twist has been likened to Blood Red Shoes, Throwing Muses and Bon Iver.

Doors open on Monday at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £8 advance, £9 on the door. Go to thecellars.co.uk
